Since its establishment by concerned community leaders in 1992, Centro CHA has
strived to create a record of service that advances, and advocates extensively for,
the well being of underrepresented, low-income Hispanic children, youth and families
in the City of Long Beach. A recognized leader at the local, county and state levels,
Centro CHA is a committed grassroots, community-based nonprofit organization that
continuously provides quality, necessary and compassionate services to more than
5,000 families from underserved, impoverished Hispanic neighborhoods. Centro CHA
is located in an area of Long Beach with a Hispanic population over 65%, effectively
making Centro CHA one of the most accessible organizations in the area and a leader
in the community.
Our Mission
Centro CHA exists with the mission to enrich the lives of low-income,
underserved Latino/a youth, families and neighborhoods in the City of
Long Beach through community advocacy, health and educational
programs, social and economic enrichment, cultural arts, community
service, and after-school youth development programs. Through various
programs and services, Centro CHA strives to develop future leaders,
create and maintain healthy communities, and instill a sense of pride
within the Latino/a community of Long Beach.

The Long Beach Community Hispanic Association (Centro CHA, Inc.) is a
non-profit Hispanic/Latino human and social service agency formed in
1992 and incorporated in 1999. Since 1992, Centro CHA has strived to
create a record of service that advances, and advocates extensively
for, the well being of underrepresented, low-income Hispanic children,
youth and families in the City of Long Beach. A recognized leader at
the local, county and state levels, Centro CHA is a committed
grassroots, community-based nonprofit organization that continuously
provides quality, necessary and compassionate services to underserved,
impoverished Hispanic neighborhoods. Cenro CHA has a valued record of
service and has contributed extensively to increasing opportunities
and improving the lives of socially, economically disadvantaged
Latino/a youth and families through advocacy, health education,
violence prevention, mentoring, youth workforce development, community
service, and civic leadership activities. Centro CHA is committed to
empowering youth with knowledge and skills towards becoming healthy,
productive, and self-sufficient members in their community. Our
services are focused in neighborhoods where Hispanics are the most
impacted, among all residents, in terms of high rates of unemployment,
poverty, violence, communicable diseases, and low levels of
educational attainment.
Our Goals
To reduce health disparities and violence in the Latino/a community.
To build and empower Latino/a youth through positive social and
economic development programs and activities.
To develop responsible Latino/a parents and caregivers to make
positive, healthy choices on the wellbeing of their children, families
and community.
To foster leadership among women and young girls through educational
activities regarding their minds, bodies, rights, family, culture and
community.
To promote, educate and celebrate cultural diversity through advocacy,
community health and safety events, civic leadership, and community
forums.
